NWACHEA of Rogers

Class Information

You must be a member of NWACHEA to sign up to participate in a class. The cost per family, per school year is $20.00. In an effort to remain as organized and as well supervised as possible, we must insist that no child is "dropped off" and that you attend all class times, including Opening Ceremony. (Certain provisions regarding this policy have been made for high school students. Contact Julie Campbell for more information.) In addition, each class will have a teacher and at least one helper.

Generally, classes are taught by Home School parents.  We invite you to consider teaching a class. NWACHEA members who serve as volunteer leaders are required to adhere to NWACHEA's Articles of Faith, Constitution, and By-Laws.

For the most part, classes meet the 1st & 3rd Thursday of the month.  Organized Nursery,Toddler & Preschool will be offered during all class times.

Fee:  $45.00

Class Description:  This is an amazing science class for your children. Super Steve teaches the kids in a very powerful way and always holds their attention. Your fee includes a project that they bring home each class period.

Class Description:  We will read classic stories and experience fun activities.

Second Hour

Rocks and Minerals    

Fee:  $3.00

Class Description:  Ever wonder about the rocks you find in your yard? Or the rocks you find when you go on a camping trip? We will explore types and names of different rocks.

Fun In the Kitchen  

Fee: $5.00

Class Description:  This is an exciting time for your child to experiment and learn how to make their own snacks.  (8 student maximum)

Third Hour

Answers In Genesis - Beginnings

Fee:  $3.00

Class Description:  Learn how we can trust God's word and defend the biblical account of creation, as well as give reasons for what we believe when faced with television programs and secular curriculum that present evolution as fact.

Answers In Genesis - Questions

Class Description:  Another look at creation and questions that young minds have, along with answers that are vitally important for our children to begin learning now.

First hour

Worldview  

Fee: $2.00

Class Description:  We are so blessed to have Mr. Willson come and share his knowledge with us. He is a previous researcher for Creation Science Institute and has a vast knowledge of Christian views of what is going on in the world today. He will incorporate the study of scientists and their discoveries and how it has affected the world's views today.

Memoir Writing & Literature: Writing Your Story 

Fee: $3.00

Class Description:  Writing a memoir means to write one's memories or one's own story. Students will enjoy writing about their own life experiences, as well as interview parents and grandparents and learn the stories of their "roots." Not only will they learn the art of memoir writing, but they will also learn how to create fiction out of these life stories, thus creating their own historical fiction. Meanwhile, the young writers will brush up on their writing skills as well as build their vocabulary. Various aspects of Memoir Writing and Historical Fiction will be discussed.

Supplies Needed: Pen/pencil, notebook, dictionary, thesaurus

Second Hour

Debate

Fee:  None

Class Description:  Is your child able to stand up for his/her beliefs? Can they back up something that they know is right or wrong? This class will help them with the courage it takes to stand up and debate with their peers.

Godly Grammar

Fee: $2.00

Class Description:  Learning grammar principles using God's Word.

Note:  This class is open to all students in the 6th - 12th grades.

Third hour

Digital Photography

Fee: None

Class Description:  Come have a great time while learning basic digital photography. Student needs to have their own camera for class.

Special Note to Parents of 9th - 12th graders:

Moms, would you please help us keep class fees down? Please provide your children with a binder for collecting information, notebook paper, and pen or pencil. Wouldn't it be a blessing to see what exactly your children are learning during the three hours you spend at NWACHEA?

Fee: $45.00

Class Description:  Wow!! Just what every homeschool mom needs!  This class will be an awesome addition to your high schooler's needed science classes.  Mr. Willson taught biology in the school system for 15+ years.  The fall and spring semesters will include setting the foundation for better understanding plus 8 substantial labs.

Please note:  This is a two semester class - if you sign up for fall, you will also sign up for spring.
