There are a number of opportunities throughout the year for just playing, having fun, and getting to know others.
How do I sign up for the bi-weekly co-op classes? We have a Covenant Meeting at the end of each semester to plan classes for the following semester and make sure there are enough classes to accommodate the number of families at the meeting. Those who miss this meeting are put on a waiting list, to be grafted in as space allows. Unfortunately, the number of homeschoolers in Benton County continues to rise each year, and we are not able to accommodate every family due to space limitations. If you decide you would like to join us for classes, you will need to contact Lori Kranz or Zoie Fair (contact information listed below) before Class Sign-ups Day. If sign-ups have already occurred, you may request to have your family added to the waiting list, which is ‘first-come-first-served’. Unfortunately, our classes are full for this semester. We will be planning the spring semester class line-up at our Covenant Meeting on November 13, 2008 (1:00-3:00 p.m.). Please mark your calendar and plan to attend, as this will assure your family a spot in the spring classes.
When and where do we register? We have class sign-ups about 2-3 weeks before a new semester begins. It will be announced on the homeschool loop/email digest, so keep an eye out for it. We sign up at Rogers Christian Church in the gym. That is our “home-base”, so to speak.
When and where do we meet? We meet from 1:00 – 3:45 p.m. at Rogers Christian Church, which is located at 2421 W. Oak St. (across from Open Door Baptist Church) twice a month (generally, every other Thursday, but sometimes holidays get in the way, so we adjust J).
Who to Contact Regarding Membership and/or Classes:
Lori Kranz, Secretary (mlkr1611@netzero.net or 621-0064)
Zoie Fair, Bookkeeper (mnzfair@sbcglobal.net or 986-8743)
When does the new membership form come out? It is usually updated by August. You may use the form that is online. Just fill in, print, and mail with the $20 membership fee to the P.O. Box on the form.
What size is the NWACHEA of Rogers group? We have approximately 130 children and 45 families registered this semester and participating in classes.
How often are class fees paid? The class fees cover the cost of supplies for the entire semester – payable at the beginning of the semester on Class Sign-ups Day.
Do you have any special needs kids in your group? There are occasionally children with special needs...we do our best to work with moms to find the best fit for all of their children. If it is something that interferes with the other children's learning, we would need to work that out on a case-by-case basis.
What is the Homeschool Loop? There is a homeschool group digest/email loop that comes out daily. You DO NOT have to be a member of any homeschool group to participate in the email loop. Sometimes the topics hit on stuff we all need to know…sometimes, it’s just discussion. Just go to http://nwachea.topcities.com From there, you can click on the Email tab and sign up. It is a great resource to have. You will find many helpful suggestions, discussions, announcements, curriculum for sale, reviews, and much more. This is quite a knowledgeable group with an abundance of experience. Also, it will keep you updated with educational opportunities, and if you decide to join the group and participate in the bi-weekly co-op classes, you’ll know when it’s time for the planning meeting and registration for the new semester.
If you have any additional questions, please contact Lori Kranz or Zoie Fair (contact information listed above).
